The Issue
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whose time has arrived. Corporations are embracing and investing in CSR - whether it's reducing their pollutants, using natural materials for their packaging, aiding a group or community, or treating workers fairly... and not just because they believe such strategies are socially responsible. Corporations now know that a positive public perception can make these initiatives profitable.

CSR gained momentum in the 80s, when the anti-apartheid movement forced firms to withdraw investments from South Africa, and in the 90s, when garment and retail companies were blasted for their suppliers' sweatshop labor conditions. Companies realized they could not ignore the link between their businesses and social issues. "As a company becomes more socially responsible, its reputation and financial performance go up, which causes them to become even more socially responsible."

Clearly, CSR isn't going away, but it's one thing to have an on-going CSR initiative, and another to create internal and external awareness about those efforts so employees, and more importantly consumers, will know.

The Solution
Go Show Entertainment produces short documentary films, which we call 'Micro Docs', to create awareness about your CSR initiatives, and to simplify and translate your message into a digestible form that can reach a much broader audience. Inward and outward-facing Micro Docs allow employees and the public to see your initiatives for themselves, and then become emotionally connected to those efforts... and your brand. An internal Micro Doc serves as an inspiring method of comparative analysis by showing what progress has been made, what obstacles have been encountered and what areas need follow-up. An external Micro Doc is an awareness-raising mechanism for your target audience and/or for the general public. While re-enforcing the brand, we inject compelling substance and bold creativity into each unique Micro Doc because we believe that making an emotional connection with your viewer is the first step to awareness, and a better bottom line. Our Micro Docs also stand on their own as works of art, and have won awards at various film festivals and competitions, thus providing even greater visibility.

Case Study
Two excellent examples of how a "mini documentary" can be used in collaboration with a company's CSR initiative are NIKE with its "The Girl Effect Initiative" videos, and IBM with its "IBM Documentary Series". In both cases large corporations wisely used this valuable visual medium to touch both individual viewers and entire demographics virally. With worldwide distribution on sites such as YouTube, on each company's website, and via other platforms such as airlines and various film and video competitions, these small productions have reached the public, successfully capturing their hearts and minds.
